Position SummaryThe Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies Department of the College of Education invites application for Temporary/Part-Time Adjunct Faculty.

The UNM College of Education, comprised of five academic departments, is a future-oriented, dynamic professional school organized to reflect the following values: Advocacy, Building Professional Identities, Collaboration, Building Strong School/University Partnership, Diversity & Social Justice, Interdisciplinary Inquiry/Scholarship, and Teaching and
Learning.

The Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies anticipates continuous review and hiring of Temporary/Part-Time Adjunct Faculty to teach and grade LLSS courses during all semesters (Fall, Spring and Summer) at the undergraduate,
upper-level graduate and graduate levels (300 - 600 levels).

Anticipated openings potentially include the following subjects:

· Educational Thought and Sociocultural Studies

· Literacy

· Bilingual Education/TESOL

· Educational Linguistics (PhD)

· American Indian Education

Positions are contingent upon need each semester as determined by student enrollment levels, current courses offering matrix, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will report to the Department Chair.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

1. Master’s degree in the relevant discipline or subfield of Educational Thought and Sociocultural Studies, Literacy, Bilingual
Education/TESOL, Educational Linguistics (PhD), and American Indian Education;

2. Two years of relevant teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree in relevant discipline or subfield;

2. Excellent communication skills and work ethic;

3. A demonstrated ability to work in the course and/or discipline of Educational Thought and Sociocultural Studies, Literacy,
Bilingual Education/TESOL, Educational Linguistics (PhD), and American Indian Education;

4. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse
communities.
