Safety Specialist

Position SummaryUnder general supervision, assists in monitoring and coordinating general campus safety program, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.

Conditions of Employment
  • A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Specific personnel training is required for employees working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience communicating and interacting with regulatory agencies and
    inspectors.
  • Advanced Excel experience and/or training.
  • Background in NFPA and OSHA interpretation and application.
  • Experience with building code and construction safety OSHA
    requirements.
  • OSHA 10 Certified.
  • Experience with governmental procurement processes.
  • Experience supervising employees.
  • Experience with a work order tracking system.
