StudentHealth and Counseling (SHAC) is a comprehensive health service available to allcurrently enrolled UNM students. SHAC is located North of Johnson Center andacross from the Student Union Building. It is open Monday through Friday, andis closed on all UNM holidays. Services include medical appointments (scheduledand same-day), pharmacy, women's and men's health, allergy and immunization,medical specialty clinics, physical therapy, lab and x-ray, travel healthclinic and counseling services, as well as health education, prevention, andpromotion.
|Conditions of Employment|
Medical doctor; at least 3 years of experience, which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.Certification/LicensureState of New Mexico and Federal DEA Certification; Medical Specialty License or Certification; Board certified or Board Eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
|Preferred Qualifications||General Adult Primary Care (Family Medicine) including:|
Management of chronic disease such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma
Providing and tracking age appropriate preventive care
Specialist referrals as needed-managing and advocating
Experience providing routine Women’s Health care including contraceptive management
Experience providing and advocating for sexual health and prevention in a young adult population
Expertise in treating anxiety, depression, and related mental health disorder and coordinating care with mental health providers as appropriate
Experience with urgent care management of acute illness and injuries such as:
Minor laceration repairs
Incision and drainage
Diagnosis and initial management of uncomplicated fracture and arrangement of appropriate follow up care.
Experience with and interest in providing health care to a culturally diverse population
Experience working successfully as a member of health care deliver team
