Position Summary

Information Technologies (IT) is seeking a Platforms Manager for Database Administration, Application and Web Tier Technologies. This position will be responsible for leading the DBA team in support of Oracle, MS SQL and MySQL databases and web and application tiers including Apache, Tomcat and Oracle Web Logic for the enterprise ERP and learning management systems for the enterprise and for departments across campus. The Manager position helps develop and implement service design and delivery processes for Database Server Mid-tier Hosting services that support specialize applications in departments across campus; serves as a member of the Platforms management team to coordinate cross team efforts to plan and to improve Platforms services; reviews and evaluates proposals for hardware or software acquisition; provides budget input; plans and manages resources necessary to meet current and projected client needs; and provides direction and leadership for staff. The person in this position also works in close collaboration with UNM IT’s Enterprise Applications team as well as business unit stake holders to ensure the university’s IT needs are met.

Work will be performed in a team-based environment in collaboration with business and technical staff, management and other stakeholders. Work experience in a Higher Education environment is a plus. We are looking for an individual with experience leading technical teams, managing projects, improving technology services, who demonstrates a strong customer service skills and excellent communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Experience managingteams that support database, application and web tiers for mission critical applicationssuch as ERPs.
  • Experience managingOracle databases.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability towork effectively with members of diverse communities.
  • Strong leadership andplanning skills.
  • Employee developmentand performance management skills.
  • Budget preparationand fiscal management skills.
  • ITIL experience and certification.
  • Project Managementexperience and PMP certification.
