The University of New Mexico (UNM) College of Pharmacy is seeking exceptional applicants for a full-time (12-month appointment) tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position in Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences.
Duties of the Position
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: providing instruction in the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and graduate programs (MS, PhD, and dual degree); developing an active, extramurally funded research program that aligns with the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences and the UNM Health Science Center (HSC); and providing service to the College, University and the profession as deemed appropriate with rank and expertise. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the vision, mission, and strategic plan of the College; mentoring, supervising and evaluating the activities and performance of professional and graduate students and support staff as appropriate. The individual will be expected to collaborate with faculty and staff and share the University and College’s values.
A Profile of the UNM College of Pharmacy Located in the historically rich and culturally diverse Southwest, the College of Pharmacy is part of the Health Sciences campus and works collaboratively with the School of Medicine, College of Nursing, UNM Hospitals, and UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center in the state’s largest health complex. The College holds the distinction of having the most ethnically diverse student body in the nation. Unique programs within the College include the New Mexico Poison and Drug Information Center, UNM/NMSU Cooperative Pharmacy program, and the oldest training program in nuclear pharmacy in the country.
UNM offers exciting opportunities for interprofessional practice, research, and education. The College has 53 faculty and 474 preceptors throughout the state. Strong partnerships with the New Mexico Pharmacists Association, New Mexico Society of Health-System Pharmacists, and the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy have created disease state management programs and innovative practice opportunities including pharmacist clinicians with prescriptive authority.
The College ranks 13th in NIH research funding and 21st in overall research funding among the colleges of pharmacies in the United States. Faculty collaborate extensively across the university as well as Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory VA Cooperative Studies Program, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, and the MIND Research Network. In addition to a stimulating academic environment, the College is located in Albuquerque, in the Sandia Mountain valley. With more than 310 days of sunshine a year, Albuquerque has year round recreational opportunities and more than 28,000 acres of open space.
