Summary:
Plans, Coordinates, directs and controls all activities related to nutrition care and food service to ensure high quality standards of operation

 

Responsibilities:
*Assists in the preparation of the department budget, including short and long term financial goals.

*Assists in the preparation of the operational goals of the department that support organizational goals.

*Develops, updates, and maintains policies, procedures, and standards for provision of optimal, cost-effective nutritional care of patients.

*Plans, directs, coordinates, and controls resources of the Food department to provide food and nutrition services for patients, visitors, and employees.

*Inspects department production, storage, and service areas to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations. Recommends or initiates corrective action.

*Monitors the performance of the department through verification and analysis of customer satisfaction surveys, quality improvement functions and financial reports. Recommends or implements corrective action.

*Directs activities of managers and supervisors to ensure high quality, cost effective service and care of customers, employees, and patients.

*Develops, coordinates, implements, and monitors in-service education programs for Food services staff to provide documented continuing education and training.

*Recognizes and adopts activities appropriate to specific needs of the hospital patient population and demonstrates knowledge specific to issues directly related to age of the hospital patient population.

*Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other facility departments to provide a coordinated approach to patient care and education as well as employee education programs.

*Maintains established systems and training programs to provide a safe working environment. Complies with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

*Conducts departmental meetings and in-services.

*Participates in PHS committees, task teams, and/or work groups as required.

*Develops and implements food services department policies and procedures.

*Develops and implements food services department goals and objectives to correspond with PHS goals.

*Serves as a resource across PDS facilities, assisting as requested to improve operations and service

*Performs periodic assessments of all PDS locations to identify areas of success and opportunities for improvement leading to a written summary report and associated plan for improvement

*Oversight of deployment of leading practices and internal standard work

*Assistance with regulatory preparedness and ongoing adherence to TJC and CMS standards

*Provides input to the development of area-specific quality and performance improvement indicators

*Develops, implements and maintains system-wide coordinated services, including the development of ways to optimize use of shared resources such as people, equipment and technology

 

Serves as an educational resource and consultant for local leaders and team members across all PDS locations

*Participates in various committees, task forces, work groups, and other projects for the system and its affiliates as needed and as feasible

*Escalates issues of concern to local Administrator and/or PHS Senior Leadership as appropriate
