Jobing Description
We currently have an outstanding career opportunity based at our Northside clinic in Albuquerque.
The OPHTHALMIC TECHNICIAN is an important member of our clinical team, working closely with our doctors and other technicians in providing care to our patients. The technician talks with the patient to gather medical history and documents this information in the medical record. In addition, the technician is responsible for accurate and appropriate testing to assist the doctor in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment plan for each patient, and then charts all procedures/decisions in the patient's medical record. Some of the technician's other duties include preparing instruments for minor in-office surgical procedures, ensuring that the exam rooms are appropriately stocked with supplies, and keeping the exam rooms occupied and the patient flow moving. Skills / Requirements
Demonstrates a caring attitude and strong customer service skills by interacting in a friendly but professional manner and treating every patient with respect. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills. Able to learn to use and maintain ophthalmic equipment for purposes of patient exams. Is willing to work as a member of a team and to accept an appropriate share of the workload. Is willing and able to travel to and work at other Eye Associates' clinics as needed. Capable of maintaining the confidentiality of patient information. Certification at the Assistant level preferred but must have at least 6 months to 1 year experience working in the eye care field. Willing to work toward certification as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) and Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) within our prescribed timeframe.
