Responsibilities:
Summary: Member of the PM Network Systems Integration (PM NSI) government support contractor team Responsible for the design, engineering, and support of tactical military networks composed of digital information technology (IT) devices and systems. Candidate provides hardware and software engineering services, installation, and maintenance of computer, RF and network. The Network Engineer is an intermediate member of the technical staff with experience in network analysis, design and engineering. Duties and Responsibilities: Support and conduct design, implementation, testing, and evaluation of networked systems within an advanced system of systems environment; provide subject matter expert advice on integration of hardware and software for fielded and developmental network devices; and provide Department of Defense (DOD) systems knowledge to the program. Participate in the integration of DOD command and control networks. Assist in the design of test methodologies and strategies, test planning, execution, and reporting. Perform reviews and analyses of program documents, technical papers, plans and reports. Assist in the design, installation, troubleshooting, modification, repair, and testing of advanced tactical military computer networks, systems and equipment at supported locations. Evaluate hardware and software; determine specifications and procedures; and configure and test networking systems for proper operation within current and future Army tactical networks. Assist in the maintenance of system and systems of systems architectures and provide input to materiel selection decisions.



Skills / Requirements

Education and Experience:
*BS degree in Computer Systems, Engineering or possess equivalent experience.
*Requires practical/hands-on experience working with DOD Systems software, systems, and tactical military networks.
*Requires extensive experience with networking, Computer Systems, and Data Distribution devices.
*Formal network training and certification is preferred.
*Candidate must have a good understanding of DOD regulations, doctrine, and policy. Knowledge and experience of DOD acquisition and test and evaluation a plus. Required Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of DOD System software, as well as Windows, Solaris and LINUX operating environments. The applicant must possess the knowledge and skills to properly configure and troubleshoot networking devices and complex network architectures. The individual must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. The applicant must also have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to communicate difficult concepts to various audiences is desirable. The individual should be able to learn quickly and have the ability to accomplish tasks under limited supervision. The individual should be familiar with military procedures and requirements. The ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations, technical papers, and reports, as well as the ability to write reports, official correspondence, and technical papers is required. A strong ability to work as a contributing team member is a must. The individual will be required to complete important assignments on a short schedule. Proficiency with Microsoft Office application and common office software applications is required. The ability to occasionally work overtime and on nights and weekends is required. Duties will be conducted at various military and civilian locations in the continental United States, including military field sites. Short-term travel worldwide is a requirement. Individual must possess a valid driver's license. Security: Position requires a SECRET clearance in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM). Personnel will be subject to all Security regulations, rules, and policies of the Government facility. Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work is performed in office, laboratory, and field environments. The office and laboratory environments are moderately clean, with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control. Military field environments may be austere with varying environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment may occasionally be moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment, telephones, and environmental control systems. The work requires normal manual dexterity, speech, and hearing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include frequent use of a computer monitor.
