Vice President, Central Delivery System Medical Staff Affairs

* Act as a representative of hospital Administration and the organization in establishing and maintaining excellent relations between the medical staff and the hospital Administration.
* Be an effective, positive ambassador for the hospital and medical staff to external constituencies of the organization.
* Serve as a critical resource to the hospital staff on issues requiring medical expertise.
* Responsible for the effectiveness of the organized medical staff and supporting the medical staff in fulfilling its responsibilities. Support a patient care environment that is guided by the Institute of Medicine's Six Aims.
* Responsible for the effective and efficient integration of provider life cycle activities that align PHS clinical operations and business goals
** Serves as an effective ambassador on behalf of the hospital with the medical staff.
* Advocates in a balanced way for both the interests of the hospital and the interests of the medical staff in hospital decisions.
* When articulating the interests or perspectives of the medical staff, ensure voice is given to all the different subgroups within the medical staff in a balanced manner.
* Cultivates support for the hospital's strategic goals, decisions and policies within the medical staff.
* Accountable for the design and implementation of the PCNM medical staff leadership development and succession planning program.
* Mentors and provides guidance and support to medical staff leaders to ensure the medical staff fulfills its responsibilities to continuously improve the quality and cost effectiveness of patient care provided by the hospital.
* Accountable for ensuring medical staff bylaws, policies and procedures, privileging forms, and other medical staff documents are kept current with industry best practices and regulatory and legal requirements. Oversees design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of physician performance feedback reports consistent with best practices in the industry.
* Accountable for physician performance and impairment issues in collaboration with the Service Line Medical Directors.
* Serves as an ex-officio member of the Medical Executive Committee, Credentials Committee and any medical staff peer review committees. Attends medical staff departments and other medical staff Committees as needed to support the effectiveness of the medical staff and enhance physician-hospital relations.
* Ensures ongoing, effective education of physicians regarding quality and patient

* Accountable for the medical staff's activities involved in meeting CMS, Joint Commission, DHS and other legal and regulatory requirements. Collaborates with the Service Line Medical Directors to achieve overall compliance.

* Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
* Collaborates with the Service Line Medical Directors to ensure appropriate physician input is provided when hospital policy, procedure, program, physical plant, equipment and other hospital decisions are made that affect the practice of medicine.
* Collaborates with the PCNM Patient Safety Officer and Service Line Medical Directors to continuously strengthening the hospital's patient safety culture and participate in appropriate initiatives.

Skills / Requirements
Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy. Three plus years of management experience within a complex healthcare organization with significant interactions with medical staff and senior leaders

At least seven years of practicing medicine (NM state license or eligible) with a strong clinical reputation. Board certified in their specialty. Eligible for membership on the medical staff with clinical privileges.
