NURSING TECH I - TEMP PART TIME
Requisition Number: 29191 Location: NM - Socorro Type of Opportunity: Part-Time Temporary FLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPT Minimum Experience: Less than 1 year Minimum Education: High School Degree or Equivalent Shift: Varied : Performs basic patient care activities under the direction of a licensed nurse. Collects data, assists patients with activities of daily living and documents care provided in patient record. * Transports patients and documents action on patient record. * Accurately measures and records vital signs, weights, and other patient data and reports finding to the licensed nurse. * Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record. * Ensures patients rights are protected. * Ensures cleanliness of nutrition areas, patient rooms, utility rooms, and general unit. Cleans equipment in the prescribed manner. Removes all trash and linen from the work area, ensuring that bags are tied. * Stocks medical supplies, linens and paper goods. Inventories equipment as required. Reports and processes broken equipment. * Delivers specimens to the Laboratory. Transports x-rays and equipment as required. * Participates in the nutritional well being of the patient through tray delivery, assistance with patient set-up, assists those patients that are dependent for their intake needs, and accurately records consumption. * Performs basic clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing, and copying. * Transcribes orders accurately, completes requisitions, and schedules test and treatments for patients. * Participates in unit performance improvement. * Assist or provides patient hygiene to include, shaving, mouth care, foot care, pericare, and bathing. * Promotes a safe environment. * * Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen and assures proper storage of E cylinders. * Organizes care in a manner that contributes to the overall quality of the team. * Communicates information pertinent to the end of shift summation before leaving the unit. * Consistently contributes to customer satisfaction by exhibiting good customer service. * Performs other functions as required. Skills / Requirements
High school or equivalent plus formal specialized, short-term training in basic patient care (CNA, Med. Asst., Military medical training, EMT-B, NA, HHA, Nursing student who has completed a skills lab) or at least 6 months experience in direct patient care required. Receives on-the-job training and successfully completes competency verification to perform primary functions within 6 weeks of date of hire.
