Summary of Primary Functions

* Minister to PHS patients, their families, PHS staff

* Fulfill CPE education requirements

* Accept and fulfill team and/or departmental responsibilities as assigned

* Continue professional development of behavior based competencies in the delivery of pastoral care services

Skills: Bachelor's degree required; theological education (preferred), involvement in a recognized faith group, and fulfillment of other ACPE requirements for admission to a CPE program.
Knowledge: Requires detailed knowledge of pastoral care in a health care setting in terms of theories and practices to serve as a hospital chaplain.
Abilities: Mental Power: Ability to make decisions that are varied but are usually confined to situations which are familiar. There are several defined alternative solutions available.
Mental Power: Ability to exercise choice in how work is accomplished with independence to operate within established policies, procedures and schedules.
Physical Power: Able to perform those duties normally associated with hospital chaplaincy
* Able to serve weekly overnight on-call - must be able to function on little/no sleep for a 24-hour period.
