Jobing Description
Position Summary: Funding available through 09/02/2010; continuance beyond that date is subject to the Department's operational needs as outlined in UBPPM #3200, Employee Classifications.

Dr. Pedrotty, in the Department of Pediatrics, is seeking a research assistant to manage and run a research study on emotional development in children with cerebral palsy. The desired candidate is self-directed, productive, and able to manage multiple roles and tasks simultaneously. He is looking for someone who is equally skilled in supervising people as well as in running a research study.

This individual is responsible for managing the study lab, administrative elements, and implementation of the study. This includes organizing and completing HRRC documentation, stocking and ordering testing materials, learning psychological measures to administer, managing subject compensation, solicitation and running of subjects, collection, scoring, entering, compiling and storing of data, development of tables and reports, write up of data as assigned, training and supervising research assistants, literature reviews, and book keeping responsibilities.

This position reports to Dr. Pedrotty, Associate Professor Pediatrics.

This position is part-time and not benefits elegible.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of directly related experience.

OR

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 1 year of directly related experience.

OR

Bachelor's degree; no previous work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer Bachelor's degree or successful completion of at least 60 college-level hours; at least 1 year of directly related experience.

At least 1 year of directly related experience in:

Research in Cerebral Palsy and emotional development.

Administering specific tests (e.g., MAND, TONI3, PPVT3 and Emotions Rating Scale).

Administration of HRRC approved study.

Writing literature reviews.

Training volunteers to assist in study.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Completed Research Apprenticeship.

Additional requirements for this position:
This position will require a pre-employment criminal background check.

Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment.


Important Notes
For individual positions in which driving is a job requirement, a valid NM driver's license and valid UNM driver's permit will be required.

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
