Job: Cable Technicians

Cable Technicians will be involved in a fiber optics, CAT 5 & CAT 6 cabling project that is scheduled to last for 6 months and has the potential of being extended through the end of 2010. Work will consist of pulling Cat 5 & 6 cabling, ladder work, working off of scissor lifts, and removal of pre-existing cable.

Requirements:
DOE Q Clearance, Active or recently active in the last 6 months.
Demonstrated experience installing, terminating and testing fiber optic, CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable.
Experience performing continuity tests on copper and fiber connections
Ability to work alone or with IT Facilities Management technicians to install or de-install electronic equipment (servers, routers, firewalls, etc.) and properly connect them to power, data and backup copper and fiber cables.
Must be comfortable with performing cable traces without affecting the production stability of other cables
Must be able to lift equipment that weighs 50 lbs or more.
Must have demonstrated experience working with CAT 5, CAT 6 and fiber optics cabling experience.
Experience with fiber optics server rack/stack in a datacenter is preferred.
