Job Corps is the nation's largest and most comprehensive residential, education and job training program for at-risk youth, ages 16 through 24. Since its inauguration in 1964, under the Economic Opportunity Act, Job Corps has provided more than 2 million disadvantaged young people with the integrated academic, vocational, and social skills training they need to gain independence and get quality, long-term jobs or further their education. Our Albuquerque Job Corps Center has the friendly, easy-going atmosphere of a small community college. We are currently seeking caring individuals to supervise students while in the dormitory and on Center sponsored activities. Fulltime evening and graveyard positions available for Resident Advisors to monitor the safety and security of student dormitories. Teaches and models appropriate social skills. Must be skilled in facilitating group discussions, have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and be able to respond quickly under pressure. Job Duties include: · Instruct/help students in social skills, including: Communication and interpersonal relations Personal conduct and social graces On-Center and off-Center conduct Conflict resolution and problem solving Personal hygiene and appearance Social/civic responsibilities · Facilitate the students' reception of prompt and appropriate assistance in the event of injury, illness, emotional trauma, arrest, trouble at home or other traumatic experience. With Center provided training may administer first aid and emergency medical procedures, such as CPR. · Inspect dormitory areas; ensures cleanliness, safety and attractiveness; supervises housekeeping chores. · Participate in the student case conferences. · Participate with the counselor, in the development and implementation of student personal career development plan. · Provide guidance to students both individually and in groups in coordination with counseling staff. · Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student personal/social development plan. · Maintain student accountability, including the completion of relevant records and reports. · Conduct daily dorm meetings. · Train and supervises student leaders and officers. · Encourage student participation in the recreation/avocation program. · Assist in transporting students, as necessary. Skills / Requirements
High school diploma or GED, Associates degree preferred. Valid
