Responsible for the development and maintenance of prevention programs within the County of Socorro.

* Implements community prevention programs as designated by Service Contracts.

* Plan, develop, prepare and present various classes / presentations to reduce high risk behaviors in youth that are age appropriate, 'Male' focused and that promote 'Abstinence' and Risk elimination

* Facilitate teen panels in collaboration with others in the Middle and High School, church, civic, and other group settings.

* Assist in the establishment of a state-wide 'Abstinence' youth Coalition.

* Assist the MCH Project Director and Youth Education Coordinator in curriculum review and development for the Abstinence Program components.

* Facilitate the 'Youth Risk Interns' and 'Socorro Teens Are Reaching Students' (S.T.A.R.S.) youth groups focusing on risk elimination

* Be a member of the Abstinence Education Steering Committee participating in activities to promote the 'Abstinence message' and the tobacco coalition.

* Evaluate the success of programs and make recommendations for improvement.

* Maintains a resource library and maintains connections with state and prevention networks.

* Coordinates with all schools through Socorro County in the development of the specific program.

* Attends all community meetings with prevention programs.

* Coordinates with service agencies, law enforcement, and the judicial system in relation to abuse prevention.

* Performs other functions as required.

High school plus specialized, short-term training in prevention. One to three years experience in community services or social services.
Requires knowledge of community services in terms of what is to be done and an understanding of how it is to be done. This staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of patients served.
