Shift: Nights

Performs advanced patient care procedures (such as initiation of intravenous therapy and airway management, and simple patient teaching) under the direction of a licensed Nurse or Physician and / or performs advanced support procedures for the operation of a Nursing or Clinical unit.
* Monitors patients and collects information for documentation in the patient record. Documents all care provided in the appropriate place in the patient record. Stamps and assembles patient charts. Posts laboratory and other tests results. Transports patients to designated areas.

* Accurately measures and records vital signs, weights and other patient data in the patient records and reports findings to the licensed nurse. Assists nurses and Physicians with sterile procedures.

* Monitor patients during diagnostic procedures.

* Performs basic patient care activities and appropriate treatment under supervision of licensed RN.


* Administers oxygen under the direction of a licensed nurse. Assists patients with portable or wall oxygen and assures proper storage of E cylinders.

* Ensures availability of supplies and equipment and maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment.

* Performs basic clerical duties such as answering phones, taking messages, filing and copying.

* Transcribes orders accurately, completes requisitions and schedules tests for patients.

* Inserts and removes non-medicated peripheral and intravenous therapy lines and Hep Lock.


* Provides airway management under direction of licensed RN or Respiratory Therapist.
* Provides security for patients, employees, and visitors. Have a working knowledge of security equipment and systems as required. Perform hazard and risk surveillance in conjunction with fulfillment of security program execution.

* Performs other functions as required.

High school or equivalent plus trade or vocational school in medical / surgical patient care. One to three years' experience preferred. Receives on-the-job training and competency verification to perform primary functions. Licensed by the State of NM or National Registry as an EMT – Intermediate.
Requires detailed knowledge of general department supportive tasks and patient care in terms of what and how work is to be done as well as why it is done this level includes interpretation of data and knowledge of advanced patient procedures. Demonstrates skills required to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served from newborn, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients on assigned unit.

Requires knowledge of basic security procedures in terms of what is to be done and an understanding of how it is to be done. Requires basic knowledge and understanding of security operations setting preferably in a healthcare environment.
