* Performs history and physical assessments of acute patients who present to the Emergency Department.

* Available for Primary Patient Care to include review of lab/x-ray reports, medication refills, patient referral, patient education, health maintenance and symptom management in acute and chronic disease for patients age newborn to geriatrics.

* Serves in educator role for staff RNs, LPNs, and student FNP's as needed.

* Performs duties of CFNP's employed through the emergency department, to include; peer performance evaluations and scheduling for both ED and employee health.

* Serves in management/administrative/organizational role to include attending meetings and maintaining schedules. Assists in the screening/evaluation process for prospective employees, staffing and management.

* Assists in the development of policies and procedures for clinical areas in which C.F.N.P. services are provided, conforming to JCAHO, regulatory agencies and PHS/EH.

* Collaborative supervision of LPNs, RNs in clinical patient care areas (ED and Espanola/PMG).

* Participates in data collection and quality management activities.

* Maintains patient medical records as required by hospital and regulatory agencies.

* Performs other functions as required.


* Develops treatment plans for acute patients seen in the Emergency Department.

* Performs minor surgical procedures.

* Interprets lab and x-ray results.


* Available for emergency 'on-call ' coverage as needed.

* Performs other functions as required.

Master's degree in nursing as a nurse practitioner or baccalaureate prepared CAHEA Certified Physician Assistant. Three (3) years working experience as a Certified Physician Assistant will substitute for baccalaureate education requirement. NM license required. One (1) year experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in emergency services or urgent care required. Primary Care experience will be considered. Five (5) years recent RN ER/ICU/FP experience may also be considered to fulfill experience requirement.
