CLINICAL EDUC SPEC
Requisition Number: 27577 Location: NM - Albuquerque Type of Opportunity: Regular Part-Time FLSA Classification: EXEMPT Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Education: Masters Degree Shift: Varied Educator: *Develops and performs learning needs assessment for ensuring that learners are actively involved. *Plans, develops, implements and evaluates general and site specific orientation programs for professional and paraprofessional staff. *Plans, develops, implements and evaluates educational programs for healthcare team, utilizing most current research and clinical data. *Educational range and expertise: Flexible range in being able to provide hands-on education at the patient's bedside in the clinical unit to classroom based interactive, simulation enhanced clinical education maximizing acquisition and transfer of clinical knowledge and skills into patient care. *Develops educational materials for programs utilizing a variety of audiovisual aids. *Provides an appropriate climate for learning incorporating principles of adult learning and generational learning preferences *Demonstrates effective teaching skills using a variety of instructional methodologies. *Delivers competency-based nursing programs to enhance knowledge and skills by engaging learners in critical thinking and problem solving. *Contributes to and/or processes application and complies with reporting and record keeping requirements for continuing nursing education credits. *Serves as a role model for providing high standards of nursing care. *Stays abreast of changes in specialty clinical practice through national conference attendance, literature reviews and other learning opportunities, and disseminates information to others in specific area of practice. *Works in collaboration with Learning Center, Quality/Compliance, and other departments to formalize annual mandatory training. *Participates in organizational patient education endeavors and health education activities for the community. Consultation: *Acts as a liaison with other units, departments, and healthcare disciplines to enhance the quality and efficiency of care and as an instructional design consultant for educational programs. *Acts as a resource, role model, and mentor for colleagues in defining clinical and organizational problems, resources, and solutions. *Instructs, advises, and guides staff to promote professional development and optimal performance. *Collaborates with healthcare team to develop clinical standards. *Provides consultation on policy, procedure and program development. *Works collaboratively with staff, educator, and supervisor/ director/administrator colleagues to develop, implement and accomplish organizational and team plans and goals. *Facilitates continuous process improvements in all aspects of services provided and when participating in interdepartmental/organizational projects. *Participates in interdisciplinary care conferences and case management. *Acts as clinical consultant on appropriate committees and outside agencies. Research: *Fosters evidenced-based practice by interpreting, communicating, and incorporating research findings into clinical practice. *Identifies nursing practice issues for evaluation and/or scientific investigation, and plans, implements, and evaluates needed changes in nursing care. *Conducts and/or contributes to nursing research in area of clinical practice, sharing results with colleagues. *Helps develop staff knowledge and skills in the process of research. *Participates in development, implementation and evaluation of clinical guidelines, disease management protocols, and clinical outcome studies. *Promotes quality and standards-based care through such activities as concurrent and retrospective chart review, conducting process and outcome evaluation and data analysis. *Publishes articles in area of expertise in local or national nursing journals and agency newsletters to enhance knowledge base of colleagues Supports Clinical Practice: *Demonstrates an advanced theoretical and technical knowledge based in clinical care and educational design. *Maintains and demonstrates clinical expertise in specialty practice and /or education specialty, obtaining or maintaining national certification. *Consults and/or evaluates clinical practices and competence of staff to assure quality of care and identify problem areas. *Acts as a patient advocate by ensuring that staff is competent and that care is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered. *Performs other functions as required Skills / Requirements
Current New Mexico nursing license, bachelor's and master's degree required one of which must be in Nursing. Must have Clinical Nurse Specialist, Nurse Educator, Nurse Practitioner, or Nurse Mid-Wife licensure with a national certification in area of expertise . Achieves ANCC Nursing Professional Development Certification with 4 years of hire . Five years or more experience in clinical nursing. Ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative data for planning and evaluation purposes as well as leadership skills are required.
