Job: Operator in Training

Holly Asphalt Company, a subsidiary of Holly Corporation, currently has a career opportunity for an Operations Technician in the Asphalt Division of our Albuquerque, New Mexico Division. Holly Corporation owns oil/gas refineries and pipelines as well as the asphalt subsidiary.


BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for the production and manufacturing of products, daily quality control activities associated with production, tracking and maintaining raw material inventories, meeting shipment and delivery schedules, receipt handling via truck and rail, following the facility housekeeping objectives, ensuring assets are properly maintained, and Holly EH & S policies are understood and followed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sample gathering of elevated - temperature materials (primarily asphalt).
Visual tank gauging to verify automatic systems.
General plant cleaning.
Maintenance tasks and light mechanical duties (pumps, valves, oil checks, etc.).
Opening and closing of valves for production.
Truck and railcar loading and unloading.
Activities in elevated-height work areas via stairs or ladders.
Paperwork involving basic math skills.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

EXPERIENCE:
Zero to two years of relevant work experience as it pertains to the job duties listed above is required.

EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
Must have a High School diploma or GED . Preemployment testing includes mechanical and math

REQUIRED SKILLS:
Basic math and computer skills, mechanically inclined and have the ability to operate a fork lift, tractor, and/or man-lift, and must demonstrate a commitment to the understanding and complying with all Federal, State, Local, and Company regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Use of tools (hand tools and power tools) and other equipment such as shovels and rakes.
Operation(s) of fork lift, tractor, or man-lift.

WORK CONDITIONS:
Outdoor based year round through all weather conditions. Office based minimal. Must be available to work a flexible schedule (e.g. overtime, weekends, holiday, rotating shifts).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting requirement of up to 50 lbs. (e.g. asphalt hoses, polymer bags or blocks, etc.); Strenuous physical activity (e.g. bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing); Elevated-heights work (e.g. ladders, stairs, rail cars, tanks); Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (e.g. respiratory equipment).
