CONTROLLER

Albuquerque Academy is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Controller.  The controller is responsible for the accounting operations of the school, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and oversight of comprehensive internal controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the school’s reported financial results and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.  Primary responsibilities include supervision of the Accounting Department staff, budget planning and management functions, supervision of the monthly close process, oversight of the monthly and annual tuition billings and AR collections, oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll processes, all treasury administration and annual financial statement and tax return preparation.

 

Skills / Requirements

Qualifications:  Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in a senior level accounting position.  An MBA and/or CPA is preferred but not required.  Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting principles including GAAP and FASB Accounting Standards Codification is required.  Applicants must be able to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.  Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner are essential.  Applicants must be able to motivate a team to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage multiple projects and frequent interruptions.
