The Native American Human Resources Association (NAHRA) is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of developing a Human Resources Network whereby members can communicate and share information relative to respective Human Resources Department's needs and employment practices. The Association collectively addresses various tribes and other entities to enhance professional development for each member. The NAHRA concept began in July of 2000 and was formally established through the passage of NAHRA By-laws in November of 2000.
Organization Purpose · To serve as an advocate for fair and consistent labor practices for tribal employees and the Native American workforce in Indian Country and surrounding areas.
· To collectively address, support and require the enforcement of federal and tribal Indian Preference laws and Tribal Employment Rights within tribal governments, organizations and entities on or near the reservation · To establish on-going working relationships and communication with local, state and federal agencies such as the BIA, IHS, HUD, EEOC, USDOL and OFCCP and to address labor issues and practices relevant to the Association which may impact the local, state, regional, and national Native American Workforce · To develop a "Tribal Human Resource Network" whereby tribes can communicate and share information relative to their respective Human Resources Department's needs · To develop a "Native Job Bank" for the referral of qualified Native American workers.
· To conduct and/or sponsor training for Association members.
