Position Summary Funding available through 09/30/2010; continuance beyond that date is subject to the Department's operational needs as outlined in UBPPM #3200, Employee Classifications, click here. An HS Research Tech 1 position is available in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology (MGM) to study the role of acute phase proteins in autoimmune disease and immune responses following trauma. This is a starting level position with training and direct supervision provided by an experienced Associate Scientist. This is a great opportunity to learn basic skills in ELISA, cell separation, tissue culture, flow cytometry, PCR and protein assays. The position will require working with human blood samples and cells. Some animal work may be required. Desirable qualifications are: availability to work weekends on short notice, ability to learn quickly and work independently, good organizational and computer skills, experience with tissue culture and immunological assays. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of directly related student practicum or equivalent work experience. OR Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; no previous work experience required.
