Position Summary
The Division of Neonatology within the Department of Pediatrics is looking for a manager for our team of 19 Neonatal Practice Specialists who provide mid-level medical and patient care services to at-risk newborn infants and their families in a Level III NICU. This person will provide administrative management and oversight of direct patient care and act as liaison between the Neonatal Practice Service and other services.
In addition, this person will provide direct patient care in collaboration with nine neonatologists, six fellows, and various pediatric sub specialists, and will make independent and interdependent decisions in the assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation of the health care needs of the infant at risk. The manager will perform as a member of the Neonatal Practice Service in providing advanced inpatient management with night call in the NICU as well as 24/7 patient management coverage for the Newborn Transport Program via ground and fixed wing air ambulance. Skills / Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Nursing or in Science with Physician Assistant Science emphasis; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse; Current national certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Pediatrics Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.


Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge in/of:
  • Neonatal transport procedures, standards, facilities and equipment.
  • Patient care requirements of at-risk newborns in a Level III NBICU.

    Experience in/with:
  • Recruitment, hiring procedures, employee development and performance management.
  • Administrative management functions to include budget management, statistics and reporting, billing and Medicaid tracking.
  • Teaching, leadership, research and management.
