Requisition number: 10211432 Position Summary: Responsible for patient preparation and recording of electroencephalogram (EEG) tracing. Monitor and edit Video EEG. Perform Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) and Somatosensory Evoked Response (SER) and other related tests. Perform Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), median nerve and posterior tibial nerve studies in accordance to established procedures. Serve as technical lead over lower level staff and may assist in training of hospital personnel. Ensures adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. Patient care assignment may include; Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups. Accountability: Apply scalp and chest electrodes as required by utilizing appropriate EEG established system to ensure compliance with applicable standards Obtain patient medical history to include neurologic symptomatology and medications; advise patient and family members on administered test procedures Performs digital EEG recordings to include neonatal, electrocerebral silence and other related recordings Monitor and adjust equipment to ensure optimal recordings; assess and document EEG recordings Participates in review of long term video EEG monitoring to include monitoring, documenting and other related recorded items for physician review Implement basic infection control procedures to ensure compliance Assure equipment and instruments are sanitized and working properly; reports equipment problems Enter various data into computer; verify data, make corrections and ensure accuracy; maintain a variety of patient logs to include archiving of EEG and EP data PERFORM - Perform Visual Evoked Potential (VEP), median nerve and posterior tibial nerve studies in accordance to established procedures PERFORM - Perform Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) and Somatosensory Evoked Response (SER) tests May assist attending Neurophysiologist with cortical grid electrode cable mapping, montage programming and recording of Grid patients Prepare and maintain a variety of report; analyze and interpret reports as required; prepare, present and disseminate information to professional individuals, groups and organizations Serve as technical lead over lower level staff as required; may assist in the training of residents and medical students PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops Education Requirements: Electroneurodiagnostic Technology certificate or related degree American Board of Registry of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET): pass EEG oral examination within established departmental timeframe Experience Requirements: 2 years electroneurodiagnostic technology experience Licensure/Certification Requirements: CPR Certification or must obtain within 30 calendar days of date of position Physical Demands Requirements: Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
